Day Trip to San Diego

My parents came up last Thursday night to visit us.  They again brought a load of stuff from home like our bikes and my favorite desert painting and Whitney's home health care delivery of formula. Friday was spent relaxing and shopping.  Saturday morning we drove to San Diego!  My parents went to a wedding and we wanted to come hang out for the day.   Waiting outside the San Diego Temple was beautiful.

Whitney's "I'm not gunna smile" face!

Whitney's big silly cheese face!

We asked Whitney to point to the Temple and she did!

Grampa & Gramma with Whitney

Look deep into my eyes!  Very intense!

Very Beautiful.

Afterwards we all went to the wedding luncheon at a fancy hotel.  It was very nice!  Whitney did pretty good, playing with Gramma's i pad of course.  But it was getting pretty late and past nap time so we had to leave a bit early.  We wanted to go to the beach and on a ferry ride so we drove over to Coronado Island.  Whitney slept in the car for over an hour while we all got dressed and ready.  We played and relaxed on the little beach for a few hours, while my mom and Whitney played in the ocean.  It was the perfect little beach for Whit because there weren't tons of hugs waves.  But when boats would drive by it created so fun waves!

Driving over the bridge to the island.

They played for hours!  Whitney loves the beach!

Warming up with Grampa on the beach.  Usually it's the other way around with my dad in the water and my mom on the beach! haha!

Nervous to touch the sand at first, then loved playing in it.

Afterwards,  we got Whitney all showered off and dressed for the boat ride.  This was her very first boat ride so I will have to write it down in her "baby book."  First we ate ice cream at Cold Stone!  We rode the Ferry around sun set and it was beautiful.  It just goes from San Diego to Coronado and back again about every hour of the day.  Whitney had lots of fun even though it was windy and cold.  So glad she got that warm purple outfit from her birthday!

Chillin' on the Ferry ride

She's not happy for our little family photo!

She's a little pick pocket! haha! she just knows where Grampa's Phone and ipod are!

Trying to escape?

Found a perfect little seat with a great view of the water.

After our fun little boat ride we just headed back to our home.  Whitney eventually fell asleep in the car and surprisingly, she isn't the one who threw up on the way home!  ;) We love it when my parents come to visit! We had a great last free weekend, before Thomas starts school!  They came to church with us the next day then left to go back home to Phoenix.

Update on us

I wanted to add pics of Whitney but for some reason Blogger isn't working!  So sorry this is just a boring update with out pic's of our princess.

It's been a pretty good week here in our new home!  The only things left to unpack is my bathroom stuff and all the picture frames.  Thomas has been busy preparing for school and learning about new health insurance.  I've been scheduling many dr. appointments for Whitney and finding a compounding pharmacy and trying to get an OB/GYN appt. for myself. Guess I missed my check up for the month of Aug.  but that's ok!  I feel like baby boy Cameron is doing great and so am I. I'm 27 weeks pregnant and already having a hard time sleeping at night! My restless leg syndrome is getting worse.  Some nights aren't too bad but other nights it last for hours and I just can't fall asleep even though I'm exhausted.  My hips will hurt so I turn over, then my ribs will hurt so I turn back over again, then I'll have reflux and have to sit up, then Whitney will be crying or her feeding pump will be beeping.  It's crazy!  Luckily I have a great husband who helps out with Whitney and gets me things and lets me sleep in!  I'm thinking I'll really miss him when he's going to school all day!  Which is really soon, like the next Monday.  But I'm use to him being gone a lot, pretty much our whole marriage he's worked full time and had several classes at night time.  I'm excited for him to start school and be a full time student!  Anyway, so the other night I decided to sleep in my new rocking chair.  Thomas set up blankets and my snuggle pillow and I slept pretty well!  It pretty much relieved all of my complaints!  I wish it reclined back a little bit more but that's ok.  I actually had a dream about how I wanted to sleep in it again and how comfy I was!

But last night Whitney woke up.  She said tissue, then started screaming.  I was so comfy I couldn't get up, haha, and tired of course, but soon Thomas came in to check on her.  He gave her a tissue and changed her diaper.  Whitney really wanted out of her crib but we said no, go to sleep please.  He left but Whitney continued to cry for a while and eventually she calmed down.  Then she starts messing with her feeding pump until it started beeping.  So I had to get up to fix it and change her stinky diaper.  She wanted out so badly and wouldn't stop crying, so I said she could sleep with me.  Bad idea.  She and I were so uncomfortable on the rocking chair together.  Whitney was squishing my belly the whole time.  After about an hour I put her back in her crib and went to my bed, while she cried some more.  Uggh,  needless to say, we slept in late this morning.  I cannot imagine this girl in a toddler bed any time soon!  I'm just glad she can't climb out of her crib!

Then I slept in my bed and Whitney did just fine.  The next night I slept on my rocking chair again and Whitney woke up at like 6am wanting to get out.  I just gave her a toy and left the room.  I think I wake her up with all my moving.  It weird though because she has slept in the same room as us since forever and usually sleept through the night just fine.
Last night I made a peanut butter oatmeal banana bar thing I found on pinterest.  It was interesting, not very sweet and had the texture of a muffin.  But just add a bit of Nutella on top and it's delicious! It was really easy to make though and turned out really well!  I froze some watermelon and am planning on making this watermelon slushy too sometime soon.   So we usually try to find something to do outside the house each day.  It may be grocery shopping, swimming, or just going on a walk to the mail box and dumpster.  We went to the DMV one day to get our new license and registration but the computers were down.  So we went to JCPenny and just hung out.  We also drove to a mall that was obviously closed. Our ward is still great.  Thomas thinks that Whitney will do fine in nursery by her self and I'm like, NO WAY!  With 15 wild crazy kids in there and only 2-3 adults, yeah. I don't intervene  too often, just during snack time and helping clean up.  Plus uh Whitney has special needs and I don't expect the leaders to be able to take or of her if something were to happen.  She may vomit or her pump may beep or her tube could get pulled out, heck I'm even afraid she'll be trampled the way these kids are always running around. Plus she can't talk and dosen't communicate well with others. I don't really like their "singing time" because they hardly ever sing primary songs!  She just plays a weird CD and doesn't have any props to sing with.  So basically I don't get to go to Relief Society because Thomas won't stay in nursery with her.  But in a few months anyways I'll have a sweet newborn and since it's during RSV/flu season,  we'll be staying home from church for many months.  Just like we have been the past 2 RSV seasons.  I'm not risking my fragile kids getting a horrible flu or even being hospitalized with RSV.  I know I may sound way to over protective but hey, all of my CDH survivor mommas are too so I'm not alone.

Well, hopefully my next blog update will be full of pictures!

Moving Day/Week

I feel like I haven't blogged in forever!  We are finally (mostly) settled in to our new townhome here in the Inland Empire of California!

Last night in her first home, my parents house in AZ

On Thursday evening, July 26th, a bunch of friends came over to help us load up the Uhaul.  It was super hot outside but it only took one hour and lots of bottled water.  We slept in a downstairs bedroom that night and woke up early on Friday.  Keawe (Thomas) parents came over to help us load up the last stuff along with my family.  Then Keawe and Clayton drove the Uhaul with our Tiburon in tow.  Me, Whitney, my mom, and my sister Brianna drove in the Jeep, Dad and Colton took the big suburban, and Merry and Adam also drove out with us!  It's about 4-5 hour drive (depending on who is driving)!   When we got to the apartments I sign all the paperwork and they gave us the keys!  Keawe's Uncle Huey and his daughter meet us there to help us unload the truck.  So nice! With our awesome numbering the boxes system we knew exactly what was in each box and exactly where to put it.  We kept track of everything on excel spreadsheet.  Everything went smoothly and we are so grateful for all the help!  I haven't been able to take very many pictures since we can't find the battery charger for the camera.  Lost it on vacation to the beach I think.  And now I can't use my mom's charger anymore.

 Loves "driving" the Jeep!

So we've only been here for about two weeks now and we just love it.  Our church is fantastic and super friendly!  That's a huge blessing for us because we are normally shy and don't make friends very quickly!  Everyone comes up to us and asks our names and such!  It's amazing!  There are tons of kids in nursery which I'm not to fond of but we'll see how it goes.  The area is pretty nice and I'm sure we'll find our way around easily!  We've been doing tons of unpacking and organizing.  Our townhome is two stories, small kitchen and living room and half bath down stairs, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and laundry room upstairs.  I really love this place!  Whitney and Cameron will share a room and the other bedroom is the office/storage/guest room!

Fell asleep downstairs and hour before nap time.

Whitney and Daddy watching TV before our couch. Cat in the hat is one of the only shows she sit and watch.  I think because she is obsessed with the books!  She loves "Cat Hat" and "Green Ham" (Green Eggs and Ham) and many more!

I'm glad Keawe hasn't started school yet and isn't working!  It's been so helpful having him home for this big transition. We have been super busy here.  It's like starting out as newly wed's again! haha!  No food and no furniture!
I finally feel a bit more settled in because we just got a new/used couch!  Before, being 5 1/2 months pregnant, I had no comfy place to sit!  The dining room chairs were hard even with pillow.  Our bedroom gets really warm in the afternoon when I need to nap.  My parents came up this past weekend (we missed them and begged them to come).  They got me an awesome rocker/recliner as a baby gift and it is so comfy!  Surprisingly we still had a bunch of stuff left at home that they brought up to us.  Anyways then we finally found a great and inexpensive (below our $500 budget) couch to buy and my parents had their big suburban and that's how we got it home!  It's so comfy and I'm so glad we now have our furniture and lots of food!

And thus begins our 4 year adventure in Dental School.
